OpenGL 2.0 is the recommended version of OpenGL for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and other operating systems that are based on the AMD64 architecture. This framework was announced in 2011 by Khronos Group, but was not released until July 18th 2012. This download includes documentation for an example project in C++. If you are looking to start learning OpenGL or you want to update your existing skillset this is a great resource with multiple tutorials and templates to learn from. A great way to get started with Open GL 2 can be found here: https://opengl2tutorials1010blogstartupcdn1-wpengine.netdna-ssl. com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/opengl2-basics.pdf OpenGL 2 is the standard software interface for graphics processing units (GPUs), which are commonly used in a variety of electronic devices such as mobile phones, personal computers, and computer graphics workstations. In order to use the new features of OpenGL 2.0, you need a graphic card that supports it or a GPU that includes an embedded version of the standard libraries. The new features which are included in this release of OpenGL 2 include:
OpenGL is a computer graphics library used to make applications for rendering 3D images on screen. The open-source core of the OpenGL 2.0 specification is written in C, and thus can be compiled by nearly anyone. You can then use this to write applications that exploit the new features of OpenGL 2. This enables OpenGL applications to run on a wider range of hardware and operating systems.OpenGL is a trademark of the open source software community and might not be licensed to an end-user directly from Khronos Group.
This was developed as part of the Khronos group's DenverCons Project, an effort to establish a cross-industry consortium focused on accelerating innovation in Open Graphics middleware as well as open standards. The Khronos Group has established a program to reward contributors who participate in the design of future versions of OpenGL. The group's version of the OpenGL "Theological License" states that "contributors to this project agree that they will not use or disclose any information which is included under the License for their own commercial, proprietary gain". This program is called Open GL Contributions Licensing Agreement. This agreement might be different from company's terms-of-service agreement (NDA) or privacy policy. Publication is authorized per their license, and it is suggested by Khronos Group to use this program specifically for open source projects.
